BITING THE BULLET PROOF COFFEE; see what I did with the title? I got all "Wheel of Fortune" on ya! ;)
Is there anything worse than injuring yourself? Ok, I know there is, no need to respond.
On top of general mom and wife stuff, I've been hitting Jiu-Jitsu every night. Nothing has been making me happier than wrestling and choking out a man, something incredibly empowering about it. Anyway, practice got a little rough a few nights ago and I've been feeling a slight pain in my side. Nevertheless, I sucked up the pain and went again last night...YIKES! As Julie Roberts said in Pretty Woman "Big mistake...huuuuge!".
Well, I wont go into all the horribly painful details about it, bottom line...BRUISED RIB! WTF? Ok, so having a bruised rib kinda makes me feel like a bad ass, an exhausted and in pain bad ass.
My mobility is limited and the pain is killing my appetite so I made Bullet Proof Coffee to get me through the morning. Never heard of it? Whaaaaaa? This stuff is AMAZEBALLS!
Google Bullet Proof Coffee for more info on health benefits as well as any concerns you have about clogging up your arteries (FYI it wont).
All I know is I LUVZ ME SOME BUTTERY COFFEE!
- 16 oz. black coffee, use a good and organic brand...so no Foldgers.
- 2 Tbsp Ghee or Grass-Fed butter ( I use Kerry-Gold salted, but you can use unsalted)
- 1 heaping Tbsp coconut oil
- Pour 8 oz. of hot coffee into Magic Bullet (or other blender)
- Place sliced butter into bullet/blender with coffee and blend for 10 seconds
- Add coconut oil and blend another 5-10 seconds
- Pour blended butter & coconut coffee in a large mug and add remaining coffee, stir
how did you come up with that? :)
ReplyDeleteI found the bulletproof executive about a year ago and have been drinking my coffee like this ever since!
ReplyDeletePeople that don't know are missing out.
ReplyDeleteJust tried this for the first time after seeing several folks in our little Paleo community reference it... Ummm.... Holy Balls!!!! Dang it, now I have to actually belly up and buy a new blender! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I know! People are so reluctant to try, but once they do they're hooked. Welcome to the Darkside 😉
ReplyDeleteDo you get "the look" when you try to explain it to your friends? I'm trying to figure out how to get the barista at Dutch Bros to whip it up for me :)....
ReplyDeleteAt first I got "the look", but I say the same thing to them that I say to my daughter "Don't make a nasty comment about something you've never tried". Then they try it and apologize for ever doubting me.
ReplyDeleteI asked the Barista at Starbucks if they make it and got "the look" too.
just made it !!! very very good!
ReplyDeleteBe careful, you can get hooked ;)
ReplyDeleteDo you have to blend it ? Will it work if I just put the butter and coconut oil in a cup and stir?
ReplyDeleteI add heavy whipping cream to mine and use a stick blender. Love, love, LOVE my BPC - every morning!
DeleteBlending works the best, otherwise it's just not as creamy.
ReplyDeleteCan you use ghee?
ReplyDeleteJust used ghee so the official answer is YES and it was divine! I used OMGhee brand num num num!
DeleteHi heard you can, but I haven't tried it with ghee yet. I know of people that use strong black tea & ghee and swear by it.
ReplyDeleteIf you make it with ghee please let me know what you think. :)
Oooh that sounds good!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to add more fats to my paleo, and this is perfect for mornings since I am pretty lazy in the A.M. Thanks so much and love your blog :)
ReplyDeleteBulletproof is my fav in the morning because I'm honestly not a food person until at least 10am. 1 cup of this can carry me most of the morning and into the early afternoon.
DeleteThank you for visiting my blog :)
OH wow! This sounds amazing! I have put coconut oil in my coffee but it melts and floats on top. I just figured it was moisturizing my upper lip ;)! You said this makes it creamy so I have got to try this. I drink coffee all morning and not much breakfast whenever I do eat. I drink way to much cream so cutting that back but still having smooth rich caffeine in the morning will be awesome! Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteIt's my favorite breakfast and on a busy day keeps me satiated until I get lunch, which during the week might not be until 3pm.
DeleteThe key is to blend it (I use the Magic Bullet) and use butter or ghee too, it will keep the coconut oil from floating to the top.
MMMM. I want a cup now!
